My wife wanted something that she could learn to play that was musical - this seemed like a great choice! It comes with lots of others things and she was able to learn it within a few hours. Now she really loves this Kalimba. It fits her small hands too with the nice recessed areas on the side. A great gift for anyone!

It is exactly as advertised. I have played two songs on it, but hestitatedly. I have to search for the notes. I have not yet used the instruction books, just fiddled with it. I like it, and I hope to come to grips with it soon. I can read music, and played flute in both junior high and high school. I just need to practice, but I like it.

I am impressed with the quality of all of the items received in this package. The Kalimba has marked keys with both letters and numbers which comes in handy as Kalimba music is presented in many different forms. The instruction manual is a little lacking in how to clean the Kalimba and does not explain what the red and green stickers are for. However, I am very happy with the instrument, all of the accessories, the hard-shelled case and the soft case, and the general introduction to the music. You get a lot for your money here.

For the money, this is quite a nice Kalimba. It is made from a light-weight wood (I don't know the type of wood). It has a nice sound and is quite OK for the price. It comes from China and it did take quite some time to get to me in New York -- but they did meet their expected date of arrival. The case is very good and the hammer tuning accessory. The Kalimba tuned very easily to my electronic tuner -- just a slight 'tap' of the hammer to one end of a tine will really make a difference. For the price, this Kalimba is fine. Good size for the palm of one's hands, too ... young and old.

In just a couple of days, have already mastered several songs and I am going to teach my granddaughter some songs as well. But most important is the beautiful tones of this instrument. It is soothing to listen to. Absolutely would recommend this product.

This is a lovely, quality musical instrument for the price. It has nice, clear tones. I am still learning to play it, however, if you have no musical knowledge you can still intuitively play some fun melodies. I would recommend this instrument for anyone, but it would be most adequate for a child or an adult that simply wants to enjoy making their own music for fun.

I received my Kalimba 2 days ago, I really love it so far. It looks nice, is lightweight, easy to hold, and sounds pretty. I am a complete beginner so I don't already know how to play, but this is a comfortable brand and seems like an easy to learn instrument (YouTube videos are helpful). I like the case it feels like it will protect it well, only thing that bothers me is the spot where the tuning hammer is, it kind of slides when I am putting the Kalimba back int it and it gets in the way and I'm afraid it might scrape the back of the kalimba.
I bought the one with hand grooves but I couldn't compare to any other since this is my first Kalimba.
Anyway I'm really happy with my purchase and excited to learn.

Got this for my kids but we ended up using it as well. My 11 year old likes that it is fun.
He says "It can be hard to learn the songs but once you learn them, it's easy to play."
But it didn't take him long to learn several songs and play the keys by memory.
The set up came with a book that had certain apps they recommended for tuning your instrument which was cool.
As a parent with kids learning new instruments, this is definitely a good one to have because the sound the keys in practice mode isn't painful to the ears and when they actually learn songs, it's quite enjoyable.
My husband and I learned some songs too. The sound can be very soothing.
We found kalimba tutorials on YouTube & even some keyboard tutorials were also useful.
We got this as a Christmas gift for the kids. We initially wanted to get them a keyboard but they were out of our price range.

The Donner Kalimba looks fantastic and sounds great as well. It's really fun to play. It comes with a pouch, tuning hammer and some stickers for the notes. It's also comes with a book with instructions and a few songs to learn. Mine came without the book. I contacted the seller and they immediately sent me a PDF version. Very happy with the customer service from the Donner store.

My daughter loved the thumb piano. It’s a beautiful instrument made of mahogany wood. It comes with a metal mallet to tune the keys, a cleaning cloth, stickers for the keys and carrying bag.

This product is great. Nice, rich sound quality and came with all the components as shown in the description (tuning hammer, stickers for labeling the tines, and the felt bag to carry it around). It shipped within a few days and I got it a little under a week later, soundly packaged and perfectly in tune (C Major). Wonderfully crafted and solidly built, definitely above what I expected for the price.

Excellent addition to any instrument collection! I have never owned one of these before, but when I saw clips on YouTube of folks playing them I knew I needed to have it. The sounds are similar to the one oh a standing Harp, but quiet. Very soothing and since it is diatonically tuned to "C" (not a chromatic instrument), anyone can play and many common little tunes can be easily figured out on it. My kids absolutely love and again due to its tuning anything the you play on it sounds nice.

This is a charming little instrument. Having removed this item from its packaging, I was immediately impressed by the beauty and quality workmanship evident.
I barely got through a few cursory plinks on the tines before my 19-year old daughter spirited it away and began finding melodies on it. She loves the happy sound, says it makes her smile. Now she wants the larger version as well!

I received one of these from my wife for my birthday. It is fantastic !! It arrived well packaged. It comes with the Kalimba, a tuning hammer, a carrying bag, stickers for on the keys (for ease of note identification), and instructions. The tuning app they suggest is easy to download and use. It took me about 10-15 minutes to get my Kalimba tuned, but once it was, it sounded amazing. It is easy to play and is very peaceful-sounding. There is also a very nice "sun" shape engraved around the sound hole. The Kalimba is very lightweight but well made. I am looking forward to becoming more proficient on my Kalimba, but for now, it is fun to just sit around and noodle with it. This is just one of many Donner products that I own and I am completely pleased with the quality and sound of this instrument, as I am will all of my Donner products.

Beautiful Kalimba! It’s really great quality and I love the little sun pattern in the middle. It came already tuned, and with everything the description said it includes. My only fault with it is that the littlest prongs to the far left and far right don’t sound as clear as the others, but to me it’s not a big deal as the rest of the kalimba is perfect- also I think it’s probably common throughout this type of instrument. But overall, if you’re looking for a kalimba, I definitely recommend this one!

My Donner Kalimba arrived today.
Looks and sounds good. Came with a hammer to help with tuning and a Carry pouch. Pouch is made of a funky material so knock off half a star. Manual has tuning info, songs and a page of common chords.
It's a beautiful piece of wood and fun to mess around with.

This is a great instrument to keep out on the coffee table and to be available for the whole family to play! I learned about the Mbira in one of my college music classes and have always loved its sound and tone so when I saw the Kalimba I knew I had to get it. As soon as I opened the box the kids were right there excited to try it out! It is super easy for all to play and get a good sound from. I was shocked at the number of songs on the internet for this instrument. The intonation was pretty close right out of the box and It was incredibly easy to adjust the tuning using the tuning hammer. I haven’t tried any alternate tunings yet but look forward to trying. This instrument has beautiful wood grain, the keys are nice and shiny, and it seems to be well constructed. I haven’t found a negative about this.

This product works great as your first instrument or as your 10th! The notes are on the keys, as well as numbers which makes it very easy to follow along to the provided instruction manual. The quality of the wood seems good and it has great tone. the carrying case is also a nice touch!

I purchased this Kalimba for my girlfriend. Neither of us had ever played a kalimba, but I’m a musician with a background in guitar. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase! The kalimba was well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. It came tuned and ready to play. The kalimba is beautiful and well crafted. It feels sturdy and fits good in my hands. The sound this instrument makes is wonderful, and I feel like we received a very viable musical instrument from Donner! The only thing that would have made this better is if it included a padded case for the instrument, but considering the low price we were beyond pleased with this purchase and it makes me want to check out more of Donner’s instrument line for myself and recording in my home studio! I would recommend this kalimba to anyone who is considering learning or wants to try a new instrument. It is extremely easy to pickup and play and we were learning songs in no time!

I like this little Kalimba player, works as it is advertised. There is a tuning fork included, a nice felt instrument holder, and a cleaning cloth that comes with the player. It arrived almost overnight! as well. It appears it will last a long time.
