My 11 yr old daughter is loving this flute. She seems to be picking it up and is always excited when she learns new sounds. I'm not sure if it's the flute or the teacher though. To be fair Mrs Simmons has been teaching kids for 30+ yrs. But overall she loves her flute and loves practicing/playing it.

This is a great flute for beginners. With beautiful craftsmanship, you won’t be disappointed. The sound quality is nice, though if you’re more than a beginner, it is not as round and robust as a $600/700 flute. However, you can use this as a practice flute or traveling flute to keep you from traveling with your concert or performance flute.

I bought this for myself...I was in band when I was in school and wanted to see if I could relearn how to play the flute! The packaging was awesome, it has an extra compartment, which came with all the cleaning supplies for your flute!! The sound quality of the flute was great, I was able to accomplish all the low notes as well as the high notes!!

My daughter wanted to try out the flute this year. Since she switches instruments so much (after she gets where she can play it accurately/ well enough to play when she wants she gets bored and moves on) we didn’t want to spend too much but still wanted it to have the sound quality so that she could truly learn the instrument. So far she is enjoying it and it seem to be holding a tune well. Time will tell..

Have not touched a flute for well over 55 years! But, this Eastar flute made it worth the wait. I still have some ambesure and enough hot air to get a decent tonal sound from this flute. Eastar gets 10 stars if we could. The entire packaging, the care and attention to detail and the package design is amazing for the price. I can detect no flaws in the construction and workmanship of this flute. I don’t know how it is possible to get this level of quality for such a low price. Great beginner flute for all parents who could benefit from a low cost entry.

A flute like the one my mother bought for me in 1967 finally became impossible for me to repair. I can’t see buying a comparable model these days for an occasional hobby. This flute meets my needs. The tone doesn’t reach that I used to get from my old flute, which had a bit more heft, but that flute would cost a few hundred dollars more than this one, today.

i play the flute for thirty years, ever own/ tried many brands and famous brands that is known head&body made of solid silver or gold. For this flue i received today, i could just say terrific! It could reproduce all the notes, balanced, amazing tone/ overtones that i could drive as others. i acquire this for my 7years old niece as her birthday present & her first experience to flute. Purchased this as a back up flute for my teenage daughter. She plays in school, but this year will be virtually.. so I decided to get a more affordable model, and store away her expensive one.
I do really like this flute. I like the non tarnishing nickel plating finish (she luckily has no allergy to this metal).her expensive silver plated flute tarnishes somewhat.
The flute comes very well packed in the case. It has black plastic protectors over the joints and little foam wedges to prevent the keys from moving during shipping: that's great attention to details. Just don't forget to remove those foam wedges before playing!
She’s getting good color from the low notes, and the high notes are also lovely.. it’s even better than We expected, it Somewhat compares to her expensive model and at this price.. very impressed!

If you're a beginner, never played, or you used to play back in the day, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing Flute Book 1 - Essential Elements for band. You'll be playing tunes the same day!

Wonderfully packed for shipping! Keys on flute were corked shut before being placed into the carry case so not to be damaged in shipping. Everything company said would be included was. This flute is perfect for my 10 year old to start band with! Her teacher even said it is a nice flute, and couldn't believe I had not paid more for it. It has a good sound to it. I am an avid flute player, this flute is not as good of quality as my $500 flute, HOWEVER it is a very nice flute for beginners or someone who is just needing a decent flute at a decent price for enjoyment!

I played the flute when I was younger and my daughter has expressed a desire to learn. I got this kit as it has everything needed to get started as a beginner. It is really easy to put together. It arrived with little cork pieces to protect the pipe from the keys so be sure to remove them when you are ready to play.

This Eastar flute comes with a soft case, zippered, and with a pouch for the accessories. The accessories include a strap that hooks onto the case, a flute stand, a cleaning rod and cloth, an additional cloth for cleaning the outside of the flute, white gloves, joint covers, and a tiny screwdriver. The tone of the flute is better than the average beginner’s flute. It is easy and smooth to reach the lowest C and the highest G with comparable effort. The only negative is that some music stores will not work on an off-brand flute should it need repairs down the road. It would be a good alternative to renting a flute, and probably less expensive, for a beginner to see if they will stick with it. I am a senior citizen who has played flute since jr high school and recommend this flute.

Great beginner flute. I purchased this for my son who is just starting band, as we dont know if this is something he will stick with we didn't want to invest a lot of money into an instrument. This flute plays well enough to learn on. Not the best sound quality, obviously, but it works to learn on. It did need minor adjustments on the tension springs right out of the case, but has been great since. I like the carry case and cleaning tools it came with. The flute stand was a bit flimsy. Overall this is a great starting point for those that don't want to get caught up paying monthly payments or hundreds on a instrument your student might not stick to.

Some notes in the middle range sound a little airy compared to others and the tuning is a little inconsistent, but the price and quality make it a great starter flute.
The kit comes with everything you'll need for your flute: cleaning cloth, flute chart, gloves, and a flute stand. My original delivery actually didn't come with the flute stand but I reached out to their customer service and they quickly sent out a replacement. Their customer service really made this purchase much more worth it!

I replaced a $2200 Armstrong student flute with this $100 alternative. The open/closed keys have rubber centers that are easily removed and replaced. It has great pads that seal well to rolled smooth holes. The sound is equal or better than any student or intermediate flute I’ve played. Some very Low notes are difficult as usual.The diamond etched banding Really looks good. The accessories are also pretty good. The case is great. I like to practice with the gloves but I don’t wear them for performances like at church. This is a great buy for a better than average flute. Came perfectly pitched.

I played the flute in high school, and now at age 60 I wanted to play again. but like a beginner I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on something I may not use after the newness wears off. My nice high-end flute was given to a relative decades ago.
I am very impressed with this product. It is an unbelievable value for <$100. I don’t recommend a colored version cuz they chip and the nickel plated version was only a few dollars cheaper than the silver plated version. So I bought the silver open/closed hole version.
Note: the open/closed hole version goes both ways. The holes are plugged with small plastic covers that can removed if desired. Personally I prefer closed holes as it is easier to play. The plastic covers are almost invisible and do not interfere with the touch.
One could argue that the tone isn’t as good as a high end flute but I didn’t notice anything wrong with the sound. It plays and feels fine to me, although it does seem to weigh slightly less than I remember. But it has fine weight. The joints are very snug, as the are supposed to be. I didn’t have to adjust anything and it worked properly out of the box. It comes with many little accessories that are nice. The workmanship also appears fine but I’m not an expert on this. I have to assume concessions were made somewhere to offer this product at such a low cost. The pads look good and if ever replaced will cost twice the value of the flute. I never had to replace the pads on my original flute. If it’s ever necessary maybe I’ll upgrade if I’m still playing it. For now I don’t need to pay extra for for a premium name. For a child, the risk of loss or theft is high so this price is much more practical. At $100 you can give it away if they don’t take to playing it.

All the accessories that came with it was a bonus - I wish I had these when I first started. If you're looking to learn how to play the flute or getting back into it - I would recommend this one (even as a beginner for the open hole flute).

This Eastar EFL-2 is an incredible budget flute that can rub elbows with the bigger brand names in the same category! I have been a high school band director for 18 years and upon inspection, this flute is just as robust as instruments 3, 4, 5x its price! I had an advanced flute player use it in band and in the mix, the flute definitely blended very well! My student thought the entire kit could go for $300-$500. We both liked the response, fit and finish, tone, overall feel, and the fact that the keys were convertible to open hole.
As far as longevity, only time will tell. At this price point, it’s a gamble for it to last a student from 4th-12th grade but we’ll see. At a sub $100 price, it will still save a family money when comparing it to rental cost.
Eastar should definitely expand their line of band instruments. I would definitely buy more!

So I played the flute for years and was really good at it in Jr High and then stopped for 10+ years so now being 28 I for sure consider myself a beginner so after reading reviews and seeing that this was for beginners I thought it was a great purchase. It works great it’s easy to put together and I also really liked that it comes with a stand that I posted in a photo above. The fingering chart isn’t easy to comprehend so if you’re also just learning to read music too I recommend getting another book on notes and fingering added to this purchase.

This is a very nicely built instrument; easily equal to the standard-issue rentals offered by schools.
The flute comes as a complete kit; including case, cleaning rod, polishing cloths, and even a pair of white gloves for handling. Literally everything a beginning student of flute could need.
All in all, a very nice alternative to renting for the student flautist.

I like music and explore different kinds of musical instruments. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there's not much activities can be done outdoors, so I thought to teach myself how to play a new musical instrument. I chose flute because it looks so elegant. There are tons of free tutorials online to be found, but little information is given on how to choose a good flute for beginners. Therefore, I carefully look through those different options on Eastar and watch the videos of people playing with the product and finally made the choice. For an amateur like me who had never touched a real decent flute, this flute surprised me with its weight and quality. It's much heavier than I had thought. The craftsmanship is also very remarkable. It doesn't look like an entry-level flute to me at all! The bag that came with it is very sturdy and well-made as well. This flute is actually better than I would have hoped for for the price. However, it'd be perfect if there could be a more detailed instruction about how to use ann maintain the flute so that I don't have to look it up online every time I need the information. I hope to practice more and eventually also be able to share a video of the sound of it.

I wanted to introduce my daughter to other instruments but didn’t want to break the bank. I’m very happy to have found this product. The case it comes in is very well made and reinforced. The flute itself appears to be very well made, the action is very smooth and it’s very well made. The stand is pretty cool and vey compact. It’s also covered in felt so you won’t scratch the inside of the flute!
